It was an absolute pleasure photographing two events for Aurora's Art In Public Places (AIPP) Program. Studious LLC was hired to photograph a scavenger hunt led by Aurora Sister Cities International and a public art tour led by AIPP's staff, Program Coordinator Roberta Bloom and Public Art Assistant Chelsea Minter-Brindley.
The scavenger hunt took place on the Aurora Municipal Center campus. The goal was for the youth groups to become familiar with Aurora's city buildings, city departments, public art and employees. My focus was to capture their experiences as they discovered the public art in the area.
The second event took place in Aurora's Cultural Arts District (ACAD). AIPP gave the staff of the new Charles Burrell Visual and Performing Arts campus a tour of ten public art pieces which are managed and owned by the AIPP program. It was an introduction to the program and a visual guide to the importance the city of Aurora has placed on incorporating public art in the its cultural fabric and identity.
These were my first photography events and I enjoyed the learning process as well as the results.
Thank you so much to the city of Aurora and to the Art In Public Places Program for the opportunity to be involved and support the arts.
