Recently I had the privilege of being part of the SJN Collective booth at the Skyline Festival@Zuni Park on August 13, 2022.
The artworks I brought are fragments of a graffiti wall that I came across when doing a photography study. On the ground across the alley from the graffiti wall were slabs of the paint layers that had fallen off. After a recent visit it appears the paint was actually scraped off to allow air-flow through the vents as seen in the pictures below.
The art pays tribute to the all the artists and time spent building, creating, making and staying true to their passions. Every layer is a rebirth, while at the same time a continuation to those that came before. The amount of sweat equity in these rare fragments cannot be emphasized enough. I'm not sure how long it took and how many layers there actually are. I do know that every piece is extremely unique in its attributes and each unveil a different experience to you and me. By using every tool at my disposal I'm continuing to develop ways to uncover the beauty and bring you a unique perspective into a hidden culture from an alley in North Denver.
